According to the recently published QS World University Ranking 2017, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies is situated among the world’s top 301-350 universities in the field of Economics and Econometrics. ASE is also ranked as the first Romanian university in the fields of Business and Management, and Social Policy and Administraton. QS World University Rankings is conducted annually by the cabinet Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), since 2004. The main indicators used to assess institutions are: academic reputation, scientific research, reputation among employers, the degree of internationalization.

During the visit in France, the delegation of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies comprised of Prof. Nicolae Istudor,PhD, Rector, and Prof. Marius Profiroiu, PhD, Vice Rector for International Relations, have held meetings with Prof. Pasquale Mammone,PhD, the President of the University of Artois (Arras) and Prof. Philippe Duez, PhD, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Social Sciences. The discussions focused on the state of implementation of the partnership agreement between our institutions and explored possibilities of developing joint doctoral programmes, double degree master programmes, training programmes and the continuation of the academic exchange of students and professors.

Signing of Strategic Partnership Agreement between ASE and CNAM Paris

On March 7, 2017, ASE`s Rector, PhD Prof. Nicolae Istudor and the President of CNAM Paris, Mr. Oliver Faro, signed the Strategic Partnership Agreement between ASE and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers from Paris, to consolidate the bilateral cooperation relations we have had in the last 25 years. After the ceremony, ASE`s Delegation participated in a workshop with the host representatives in charge with research, international relations, continuing professional development, computerization, liaison with enterprises and coordination of MBA programs.

Simulation Contest for students, organized by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA)

Simina Costea, student at the Faculty of Administration and Public Management, part of the semifinalist team at the Simulation Contest for students, organized by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), qualified for the next stage of the competition, together with the teammates after having won the regional stage of the competition held at United Nations University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. NASPAA organized this year\'s competition on 25 February, in eight centers, located on four continents: Europe, Asia, South America and North America. Nearly 400 students, graduates of administrative sciences, political science and public management from all around the world traveled to the eight locations (Maastricht, New York, Washington DC, Indianapolis, Bogota, Tempe, Seattle and Beijing) to compete with the objective to promote food security worldwide. Within the competition, the students accessed a captivating computer simulation developed specifically for this event by the University of Virginia. The students had been divided into mixed teams of 16 to 20 competitors and  pledged to outline a strategy for reducing global hunger in five regions of the world. They analyzed data, made policy proposals, modeled simulator results and developed recommendations for the jury of the competition. The jury emphasized the evolution of the winning team from the competition center of Maastricht, where our student, Simina Costea, made an important contribution, appreciating the thoughtfulness of the developed strategy.

The Civil Rights Movement and Leadership for Diversity

The newly opened Center for American Studies held on February 21st, 2017 the debate \"The Civil Rights Movement and Leadership for Diversity\". The guest speaker was Michael Tierney, Executive Director and founder of Step by Step, a regional community leadership and education nonprofit in southern West Virginia, US. The debate is part of the African American History Month program promoted by the US Embassy in Bucharest. Remembering the work of great civil rights activists and leaders such as Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela, the participants discussed the numerous types of discrimination such as racial, sexual, equal pay discrimination, domestic violence and abuse in its many forms and instances.  Stories about the Roma children in Romania and the predicament of schools in rural communities were also shared alongside students\' personal accounts of volunteer experience.

The Maltese Presidency of the council of the EU

Our university was visited by His Excellency, Prof. Lino Bianco, Ambassador of Malta in Romania and Bulgaria.
On this occasion, His Excellency delivered a lecture on the challenges and achievements of the mandate of Malta to the EU Council presidency.
Issues related to migration, the single market, security, social inclusion, EU neighborhood policy and maritime policy were discussed together with the students and master students of the Faculty of Administration and Public Management.

On February 16, Prof. Nicolae Istudor, PhD, Rector of The Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Prof. Michel Rochat, CEO Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) signed at Lausanne the partnership agreement between the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL).
Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) is one of the most prestigious school of tourism and hospitality. Prof. Marius Profiroiu, PhD, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Andre Witschi, President of the Board of Governors of EHL and other members of Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne were present at the event as well.

Representing the interest and opening of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies for the culture, history and civilization of the United States, the Center for American Studies is an academic unit that promotes American values and culture, supports research and development, strengthens the long tradition of good relations between our University and American academia, organizations and institutions.

Our University and the Center for American Studies had the privilege to welcome Elisabeth Fischer-Martin, specialist on US elections, Emmy-winning journalist and co-host of Bloomberg Politics’ Master in Politics Podcast

The event was facilitated by the US Embassy and the Romanian US Alumni Association and took place in Madgearu Hall. Members of didactic staff, students and all others interested in the topic of the presentation and following discussions were invited. Digi 24 TV station was present to broadcast the event. Our university was honored to host this event, as Betsy Fischer Martin is an Emmy-winning journalist, TV executive and President of Fischer Martin Media. Currently, she is the Contributing Editor for Washington for MORE Magazine, an Executive in Residence at American University\\\'s School of Public Affairs, and the co-host of Bloomberg Politics MASTERS IN POLITICS Podcast. Most recently she was the Senior Executive Producer and Managing Editor of NBC News Political Programming, where she was responsible for the development and execution of political coverage. She created and executed coverage strategy for NBC News polls and research data. Before being promoted to the executive role at NBC News in 2013, Fischer Martin was at the helm of the top-rated Sunday morning public affairs program and the longest running television program in the world, \"Meet the Press\", for 11 years. She produced in-depth interviews with top newsmakers, including U.S. presidents, cabinet officials, heads of state and presidential candidates.
